Harnessing the power of the sun

One of the ways we generate energy is to tap into the power of the sun. Our photovoltaic plants significantly cut down our CO2 emissions at various sites in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States.

Award for responsible conduct

Setting the example in responsible conduct: our subsidiary in China has won an award for the recycling system at its Suzhou, China site, which enables solvents to be reused and thus reduces waste considerably.

Energy management to reduce carbon emissions

Efficient energy management: We're cutting down our carbon emissions by roughly 9,500 metric tons per year courtesy of two modern energy stations in Darmstadt and a co-generation plant in Gernsheim.

Respecting the environment

Climate protection and resource scarcity are key challenges facing society in the 21st century. For us, taking responsibility is an integral part of our culture. Backed by our certified environmental management system, we work to minimize our emissions and waste while also utilizing resources such as energy, water and raw materials as efficiently as possible.
In 2009 we launched EDISON, a comprehensive program to mitigate our company's impact on the climate. Through the approximately 270 EDISON projects initiated since 2012, we are working to achieve annual CO2 savings of around 94,000 metric tons in the medium term. Worldwide, 37 of our sites account for 80% of our greenhouse gas emissions, which is why we are focusing our efforts on these facilities.
Under the Carbon Disclosure Project, we’ve been reporting our activities to mitigate our impact on the environment for several years now. These reports provide our stakeholders with detailed information on how we’re working to conserve resources and respect the environment.
